Description


CacheVisualizer is a tool that visualizes the density of geocaches in different areas. Geocaches can be loaded as a GPX-file or as a .db file as it can be downloaded from here. You can use CacheVisualizer while planning your next tour, to see where many geocaches are located.

Features


  • Open .db or .gpx files and visualize geocache density
  • Open exlude-list to exclude caches found by you
  • Drag mouse to zoom to a certain area
  • Press right mouse button to zoom back to last zoom area
  • Display name of caches in map
  • Select three different visualization modes (prefer easy, prefer hard, normal)
  • Filter caches by type, size, difficulty or terrain
  • Change rendering resolution for faster redraw on older computers
  • Click on a cache to show cache page in default browser
  • Different cache types are indicated by different colors
  • Move the cursor over a geocache to see its details in the menu bar
  • CacheVisualizer can be integrated into GSAK using a little script

The software is provided without any warranty or support.
The software is still in beta-status and can contain many software bugs.

Installing and using CacheVisualizer


  1. You need a Java runtime environment to use CacheVisualizer.
  2. Usually, a Java runtime environment is pre-installed on your computer and there is nothing to do in this aspect. If you don not have a Java runtime environment installed, you can download it from here.
  3. After downloading the Zip-file, extract it anywhere on your harddrive.
  4. Start the included "start.bat" by double-clicking it.
  5. Play around with CacheVisualizer.
  6. If rendering performance is too slow, try decreasing the rendering resolution, e.g. select "5x5".
